I took my truck to Browns as my previous mechanic was charging for work not needed. I paid the $75 to have the vehicle diagnosed, which I assumed meaning they were going to look at the issue I took my truck in for, but no, this was for their "Diagnostic" of the entire vehicle, which I did not take it in for. I then received a nice text with all the info on what the truck needed. $75 bucks down the drain as I knew what needed to be fixed, the leak in the pinion seal. Once I agreed for them to fix the issue I see on the invoice another $67 in "Diagnostic" fees for troubleshooting the rear end to determine that the pinion seal needed to be replaced, as I told them when I took the truck in. I opted to have them replace the serpentine belt, my mistake in not asking how much that would cost. Total for a pinion seal replacement and serpentine belt replacement was over $800, not to mention the wasted $75 diagnostic fee. Now the service was not bad, truck was fixed and I got a warranty for the work, but I will not be bringing my vehicle back here, nor will I recommend it to my friends and family. I feel that Browns Automotive should explain clearly what that initial $75 diagnostic fee is for. I could have gotten the same report from Jiffy lube when I get my oil changed, for free.
Thank you for your review Ronald, the situation has been addressed and used to train in better communication.
